On seeing the 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning...and why this is relevant to crypto and everything you want to be good at in life
Hello, friends!
Happy Sunday.
Again tried to free-write some thoughts inspired from a novel I read some years back, and then link it up to crypto. Also bear with me, because there are some thoughts about modern dating culture.
So if you’re looking for the latest DeFi protocols to ape, I am sorry, but this exact piece won’t give you that alpha (however my next post in the coming week will).
This piece is unedited (as all issues), because I’ve found that the only way for me to be consistently posting things week after week is to just publish them whenever I feel finished.
Hope it is good enough though :)
On seeing the 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning...and why this is relevant to crypto and everything you want to be good at in life
Let’s start this post with a passage from a novel by one of my favorite authors Haruki Murakami, and let’s weave it together with crypto afterward.
One beautiful April morning, on a narrow side street in Tokyo's fashionable Harujuku neighborhood, I walked past the 100% perfect girl.
Tell you the truth, she's not that good-looking. She doesn't stand out in any way. Her clothes are nothing special. The back of her hair is still bent out of shape from sleep. She isn't young, either - must be near thirty, not even close to a "girl," properly speaking. But still, I know from fifty yards away: She's the 100% perfect girl for me. The moment I see her, there's a rumbling in my chest, and my mouth is as dry as a desert...
If there’s one thing that stands out in this text for me it is that we humans tend to romanticize something perfect. In our lives, we look for the perfect career, the perfect partner, the perfect place to live, and we idolize celebrities or friends who are going on what looks like dream vacations. Social media, and especially Instagram has made us much more jealous of other people and made us unhappy with what we already got and what we already have. For myself, I’ve been single for 2 years now, and even though I know what I want deep down, I keep searching for the “perfect” girl. Instead what I should do is find the 100% perfect girl for me. I’ve wasted a lot of time going to clubs in the hope of finding her there when I know that my dream girl is not a girl that thrives in these environments in the first place. Quite ironic, right?
I have been thinking about which arenas to find a potential GF. Like this is maybe a weird thing to write, and the obvious answers are bars, social settings, via friends, Tinder etc. But after watching a clip on Tik Tok about how the famous YouTuber, Mr. Beast, met his girlfriend Thea Booysen, it strikes me that I’ve probably looked the wrong places all along.
Now watch this clip first, and I will continue about my thoughts below
So in the video, Thea Booysen is reflecting on where she will meet someone who is as like-minded as her. And she says something like: “The probability that the guy that is perfect for me is spending most of the time at home alone is very high”. And for some reason, I couldn’t let this thought go. If you’re reading this newsletter you already know that I’m probably online 12++ hours per day doing “work”. I put work in ““, because to me this doesn’t feel like work. I am spending time thinking, writing, and talking with people about subjects I am genuinely curious about. For me, this is my perfect life, and I honestly don’t want to change it.
Don’t misunderstand me, I love spending time on sports, meeting friends, go to a bar with friends etc., but not all of the time. Anyway, when I am meeting girls in normal settings it’s just like…they’re normal. Not that I am special or anything, but they have normal lives and most of them dream of a life built around a 9-5 routine which is not for me. I think I want kids one day, but this is not something I am stressing about. It happens if and/or when the time is right. So how can I find the perfect girl for me? The obvious criteria for me are that she is intellectual, deeply curious about life (a thinker), caring, and loyal and I need to feel attracted physically to this person. Also, I think it is important that this person enjoys her own company, because I love spending time alone. Or actually I think the best thing is when you’re with another person and both are doing their own things and just thriving. Just enjoying each other company without necessarily talking all the time.
Have Route turned into a dating coach instead? Jfc. Hehe. Anyway, how is this linked with crypto? Well, I think that many of us are afraid of doing things wrong, so instead of trying (and potentially failing), we never start at all.
This could be starting a crypto project, applying for your dream web3 job, building a Twitter audience, reaching out to your favorite influencer with an idea, avoiding reaching out to other traders you admire because you think you’re not good enough, and so on.
The key word here is to not delay, but to act on the skills you already have. Learn as you go. Stop thinking that you have to be perfect or that you have to know everything in order to start. You are good enough already.
When I started out in crypto I didn’t know much when I started tweeting about it. However, I knew marketing, and I knew how to write viral tweets. So I leveraged my skills and focused on what I already was good at, instead of focusing on improving my weaknesses. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to become better at what I currently don’t know much about, but you see, the world-class performers are seldom good at many things. Eg. Lionel Messi which probably is one of the world’s greatest football players aren’t good at many things other than playing with the ball. But we tend to glorify these athletes or superstars by giving them a halo. You’ve probably heard about the halo effect, but basically it translates to that if a person is eg. good looking, we tend to materialize into that the person also must be smart, good at sports, have lots of friends etc. This is why we like Messi, Ronaldo, Jordan etc. for more than just the sports aspects. The marketing departments knows about the psychological effects of the halo effects, and that’s why you see the biggest celebrities and sports starts in commercials and as brand ambassadors for products.
While we’re talking about crypto, have you noticed that the influencers you keep looking up to are the ones who constantly stick around despite the market conditions? Always paying attention even though nothing seems to be happening. One example of this is when Friend.Tech launched August 2023 in the midst of what felt like a deep bear market. While we can laugh of Friend.Tech today, and that the airdrop didn’t became a huge success, there is no doubt that those who were early to this game earned a lot in fees and by buying shares early.
Right now it feels like there isn’t much going on (again). It’s the 4th summer in a row while the market is quiet. Market makers are on vacation, altcoin are on sale, but despite this new projects are launching all the time. The amount of altcoin unlocks we’re going to have in 2025 and 2026 will be insane.
So even if there isn’t much to do right now, I think it is worth paying attention. Because suddenly the tides will turn again, and you will be caught off guard (this happened to me in January 2023 when the market turned bullish again), and I swear to God it won’t happen again. But it did…August 2023 while I was on vacation. This time though…nope.
Where to stay updated? Well, obviously Twitter. But if you like quick and condensed alpha, I think Telegram channels is what makes the most sense.

But to go back to the headline again, you don’t have to be the best, or chase what’s perfect. What you have to do though is to start today. This is valid for everything you want to be good at. Instead of thinking that you aren’t qualified enough, or your skills aren’t “perfect” enough, start at whatever point you are, and go from there.
The crypto markets aren’t perfect at the moment. They are bumping sideways. The price action is boring. But just don’t give up. Be curious and continue learning.
And after all, you might see the 100% perfect girl one beautiful April morning.
She might not stand out in any way, but still, you would know from fifty yards away: she's the 100% perfect girl for you.
…
That’s it for today, anon!
Hope you enjoyed this piece.

We have to admit that most crypto guys are nolifers. So, one of the obvious ways to meet she is thinking what kind of place your kind of girl could visit regulary?
